Liams birth story

Friday evening Ian and I were sitting at home awaiting the arrival of our little man and we decided to try taking some Castor oil. I took the Castor oil around 4 and contractions started happening at 7ish so I decided to try and get some sleep before the big show. After sleeping for a little bit I was awaken to harder contractions around 9:30pm and decided to start timing them. I called my midwife around 11 because they were getting harder closer and longer, she wanted to wait until they were consistently a minute long for an hour so we waited. we called her again at 2:30 and headed out to the birth center at 3:00 got there in 15 mins when we got there I was only a 6 and still not completely effaced so I got in the tub and that made things go a little bit faster. After laboring for about an hour Beth came back in and checked me and I was at a 9 so she decided to break my water and hopefully we could have the baby by 6 :) well she came back at 6 and i had progressed 0.5 a centimeter so she suggested getting out and walking around so that gravity could do its work. so we walked around and still nothing, then she checked me again and Liam's head was cockeyed he was trying to come out ear first. That is what was preventing me from completing. Beth worked for about 3 hours trying to turn his head during contractions and he would not budge. After all this work we were going to try the tub again and see if the water would help him to turn. So as she was filling the tub I labored on the bed and my contractions got really really hard, I was in agony. My mom was in there helping and she started praying for God to turn his head and I found out after that Beth had gone into the waiting room and asked my family to pray for God to move his head. When Beth came back in she checked me, I was completed had the urge to push and 7 mins later had my little blessing in my arms. God works through prayer and nothing can be done without him. a few days later my mom and I were talking and she told me that she had asked Beth what she was going to do if the tub didn't work and she said I might have to be transported to the hospital for a C-section. Thankfully God intervened and instead of recovering from a C-section I had a wonderful recovery, I didn't even tear. God is good!

  1. Your new cutie is a doll! And what an amazing birth story. Prayer is so critical to healthy births. I'm so glad your midwife was a Christian - not all of them are. Congratulations!
